The film that inspired Riviera style
With Bonjour Tristesse, Otto Premimger’s movie based on Françoise Sagan’s book, we’re plunged into the Riviera style of the beginning of the 60’s. Actors Jean Seberg and David Niven embody the nonchalant spirit of a sun-drenched Côte D’Azur crowded by high society. Seberg’s outfits are designed by Hubert de Givenchy, with David Niven elegantly wearing simple cotton and linen shirts and trousers; essential in the sun.
|It is this atmosphere that has inspired Cuisse de Grenouille for its 2016 Spring-Summer Collection. From the coloured shirts worn by David Niven in the movie came the midnight blue shirt “Nolan”, the sky blue Oxford shirt “Marius”, the linen shirt “Octave”, and the pink Oxford shirt “Sven”. The light beige “Valentin” chinos, the “Mark” blazer and the “Bundoran” boardshorts accompany this summery wardrobe… redolent of the warm shade beneath cypress trees in June…|
