When looking at the work of an architect or a designer, one wonders about his inspirations. In Joran Briand’s case it would be the wave, from the ocean, on which he practices his passion for surfing, and that guides him in his creations. After an experience at Noé Duchaufour-Lawrence, he founded his own agency in 2011. Originally from Brittany, he doesn’t spend his time working on the shape of surf boards, but on contemporary and urban projects in which we can recognize his passion for the sea and its specific movements like his « Toul » stool made of jute fiber for Saintluc.
With common and shared values and passions around the gentleman surfer concept, Joran Briand has naturally been entrusted to carry out the design of the first Cuisse de Grenouille shop’s furniture (in the upper Marais): an « Olo » stool and a « Log » table that seems to surf this epic wood tube in the shop.
Also on the pattern « July » inspired by the famous Hokusai wave, used on T-shirt, shirts, candles and also on the shop’s wood bar.

And when he is working on the « Mola » quiver project (a set of 3 different boards) imagined for Thomas Erber’s“Cabinet de Curiosités”, the product becomes contemporary art, beyond the simple sport accessory.
